The Spice Isle,
Four Sensational Days
Zanzibar is a world apart — a coral island draped in cloves and cinnamon, where ancient Swahili trading culture blends seamlessly with powder-white beaches and waters so clear you can count the fish beneath your dhow. This four-day itinerary is designed to reveal the full spectrum of the island: its history, its flavours, its marine life, and its legendary beach sunsets.
You'll wander the UNESCO-listed Stone Town, explore a working spice plantation where nutmeg, vanilla, and black pepper grow wild alongside the path, snorkel pristine coral gardens at Mnemba Atoll, swim with spinner dolphins off Kizimkazi, and surrender to the unhurried rhythm of a traditional wooden dhow drifting at sunset.
Whether you're extending a safari, celebrating a honeymoon, or simply seeking somewhere extraordinary, four days on Zanzibar leaves you with flavours, colours, and memories you'll never quite shake.
"Zanzibar doesn't reveal itself all at once. It opens slowly — one narrow alley, one new scent, one coral garden at a time. Four days is exactly what it takes to fall completely under its spell."
— Mr. Chacha, Founder & Lead Guide, Africa Endless CruisingYour Full Itinerary
Into the Labyrinth
Your guide meets you at Zanzibar's Abeid Amani Karume International Airport and whisks you into the sensory whirlpool of Stone Town. You'll navigate carved wooden doorways, the old Arab Fort, the Anglican Cathedral built on the site of the former slave market, and the bustling Darajani spice bazaar. In the afternoon a short dhow ride takes you to Prison Island — home to giant Aldabra tortoises, some over 150 years old, and snorkelling over a colourful coral garden. As dusk descends, Forodhani Gardens comes alive with its open-air night market where fishermen and chefs grill fresh seafood over charcoal by the sea wall.
Flavours of the Spice Isle
The morning belongs to Zanzibar's legendary spice heritage. Walking through a lush working plantation in the island's fertile centre, your guide shows you clove trees, black pepper vines, vanilla orchids, nutmeg, turmeric, lemongrass, and the bizarre jackfruit up close — identifying each by touch and smell before you taste. A fresh tropical lunch prepared on-site uses everything you've just learned about. In the afternoon, the road north leads to Nungwi — a fishing village with a natural tidal lagoon that never drains completely, offering a safe, gorgeous swim in clear turquoise water as traditional ngalawa outrigger boats rest on the sand beside you.
Below the Surface
Today belongs entirely to the Indian Ocean. Early morning sees you heading south to Kizimkazi, where pods of resident spinner dolphins feed and play in the channel — a supervised, respectful encounter that lets you slip into the water alongside them. After lunch on a deserted sandbank, your boat crosses to Mnemba Atoll — one of East Africa's finest snorkelling and diving sites, where the coral gardens are alive with sea turtles, parrotfish, moorish idols, moray eels, and glittering schools of fusiliers. There is no crowd here, just the sound of waves, reef, and total immersion in a blue world.
Sunrise, Sand & Farewell
A gentle final morning — the pace entirely your own. If you'd like one last adventure, the Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park is nearby, home to the rare endemic Zanzibar red colobus monkey found nowhere else on earth. Otherwise, spend the morning barefoot on the shore with a fresh coconut in hand. After a slow farewell brunch your guide transfers you to the airport, your bags full of cloves, vanilla pods, and salt air — and your mind already planning the return.
