Included in the tour are Serengeti, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, and Ngorongoro Crater. Another highlight of this tour is the walking safari in Lake Eyasi to witness the lifestyle of the bushmen in northern Tanzania.
Safari Itinerary
Lake Manyara National Park:
We pick you up from your hotel and drive to Lake Manyara. The park derived its name from the Maasai word “manyara”, which is the swahili name for the plant, Euphorbia tirucalli. The Maasai use this plant to grow livestock stockades, which matures to a highly durable stockproof hedge.
The Great Rift Valley is part of a fault in the earth’s crust which stretches 8,000 kilometers (4,971 miles) from Turkey to the mouth of the Zambezi River in Mozambique. The fault is so massive that when astronauts landed on the moon, the Rift Valley was clearly visible to them.
Serengeti National Park via Ngorongoro Conservation:
After breakfast, we proceed to Serengeti, Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park and famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Yet even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers a remarkable game-viewing experience in Africa.
2-full days in Serengeti
Between mid-June and September, the park experiences an awe-inspiring migration phenomenon. The Mara River, particularly from mid-June to September, hosts the most spectacular river crossing of the great migration. This river, fueled by heavy rains, is fierce and deep, posing significant challenges to the migrating wildebeest. Witnessing these majestic creatures navigate the turbulent waters, with some succumbing to the currents and others falling prey to lurking crocodiles, leaves an indelible mark on observers. If luck is on your side, you may witness this remarkable natural spectacle unfold before your eyes, allowing nature to follow its course. Following the migration trail, you may venture towards the Lobo Valley. During the dry season, this valley’s permanent water sources attract a plethora of resident and migratory animals. A full-day game drive will include a stop for a picnic lunch, allowing you to refuel amidst the wilderness. As the day draws to a close, indulge in a delicious dinner and retire for a well-deserved rest at your chosen accommodation.
Ngorongoro Conservation Crater:
We start with an early morning game drive inside the Ngorongoro Crater. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, and various species of birds. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) is an extensive highland area along the eastern arm of the Rift Valley, with the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater as its focal point.
Lake Eyasi Bushmen Cultures:
We depart for Lake Eyasi to visit the bush men and observe their activities such as hunting and wild fruits gathering. The Hadza, or Hadzabe are indigenous ethnic group in north-central Tanzania. They live in Lake Eyasi in the central rift valley and in the neighboring Serengeti Plateau. The Hadza is just under1,000 in population living as hunter-gatherers, among the last hunter-gatherers in the world.
Tarangire National Park
One of the largest national park in Tanzania located in Manyara region, this place is characterized by the large herds of elephants, tree climbing lions, and the fascinating baobab trees also called the Tree of Life for its almost mythical powers that some cultures attach to it. This park is especially known for Tarangire river which flows all year round and the only source of water for wild animals during dry seasons.
We continue with another game drive in Tarangire before proceeding back to Arusha. You will be dropped off at the airport or hotel.
